Mayor's Awards to be Announced Tuesday 26th January
The seventh annual Mayor's Awards for Galway City will be presented at a ceremony in the city next Tuesday night.

The popular awards acknowledge outstanding volunteers and volunteer organisations who have made a significant impact on the quality of their communities in Galway City over the last year.
This year's Mayor's Awards 2009 will take place in the Black Box Theatre on Tuesday 26th January. The awards ceremony will be broadcast live on Galway Bay FM from 8.00pm.

The 75 nominees will be presented with certificates by the Mayor, Cllr. Declan McDonnell before each of the individual category winners is revealed.
These will each receive a Galway Crystal trophy and a cheque for €700 and the Galway City Credit Unions Volunteer of the Year will be the final and ultimate award announced on the night.
In December each year nominations are invited from people resident in Galway city for individuals or organisations who are involved in voluntary activity in one of the following categories:
•Arts, Culture & Cursai Gaeilge
•Environment, conservation and Heritage
•Neighbourhood & Residents Groups
•Social & Community Support
•Sports, Recreation, Children and Youth
•Young Volunteer of the year
