National Track and Field League Final. Congratulations to the GCH men’s’ team who took a well-deserved National bronze at the Premier League final in Tullamore on Saturday last behind Clonliffe Harriers and Raheny Shamrocks. A determined, gutsy performance by the team on the day saw them clinch third place by the narrowest of margins. Well done to all who competed on the team over the two qualifying rounds and to Manager Cliff Jennings. A detailed report will be published on the website.

Congratulations to the GCH athletes who competed on the Galway County Ladies team who took silver in the Women’s’ Premier League final behind DSD. Great performances from Regina Casey, Nicole Walsh, Aoife Sheedy, Aisling Joyce, Kathryn Casserly, Lydia Doyle, and Emma O’Hara on the day, with Eimear Rowe and Laura Nally competing in the qualifying rounds.

The National Juvenile Outdoor Track and Field championships. The Juvenile B championships and Inter Club Relays took place on Sunday last in Tullamore. Great performances again from all of our juvenile athletes. Individually – the club took home two gold medals, four silver and a bronze and a credible seven relay team medals – five gold, two silver and a bronze. International athletics. Congrats to Laura Nally of GCH on her International debut at the European U20 Championships in Boras, Sweden. Laura featured on the Irish U20 women’s 4x400m team in the heats that set a new National under 20 record.

The Irish team eventually went on to finish fifth in the final with another National under 20 record.

European Youth Olympics. Good luck to Robert McDonnell who competes in Round 1 of the 400m tomorrow Tuesday 23rd July in Baku, Azerbaijan. Round 1 takes place at 10.40am. The 400m final takes place on Thursday 25th at 7.45pm. Robert is also part of the Irish 400m medley relay. (Medley relay rounds on Friday 26th at 6.50pm with relay final on Saturday 27th at 10.55am). National Senior Track and Field Championships. The National championships will take place this weekend, 27th and 28th July in the Morton Stadium in Santry, Dublin. Best of luck to all our athletes competing. Events get under way at 12pm on Saturday and on Sunday at 2pm.

Galway Clinic Streets of Galway 8k.  The club’s organised race takes place on Saturday August 10th at 7pm. This is the 34th edition of the famous Streets of Galway 8k Road race. This year a record field of 3,400 will race the event with some of Ireland’s top athletes, club runners, many visitors, along with thousands of locals who will take on the 8km challenge.
