Laura Ann Costello selected for European Youth Olympics
Submitted by JoanneOB on Wed, 2013-06-12 14:13Congratualtions to Laura Ann Costello who has been selected to run for Ireland in the European Youth Olympics in the 4x100m relay team.
Congratulations also to Pauline Harrington her coach who has done such a great job in preparing her so well for the event.

Connacht U13-Senior T&F Sunday 16th June
Submitted by JoanneOB on Wed, 2013-06-12 14:07The Connacht U13-Senior T&F to be held in Athlone I.T. on Sunday 16th June.
A bus will leave Dangan car park at 8.00am collecting at the bus stop across from Dunnes stores Headford Road at 8.15am & The Oranmore Community Centre at 8.30am.
Cost €10.
The first event starts at 11.00am so athletes need to be in Athlone at 10.15am.
Full details of the running order of events are attached.
NOTE: There is no Juvenile training in Dangan on Sunday 16th June.

All-Ireland School's T&F 2013
Submitted by JoanneOB on Fri, 2013-06-07 07:16G.C.H athletes made a big impression on the All-Ireland School's T&F in Tullamore at the weekend.
The athletes representing Dunmore CS, Presentation, Athenry, The Bish, the Jes & St Mary's won a total of 2 gold, 2 silver & 3 bronze medals in Tullamore.
Laura Ann Costello (Dunmore CS) had another inspiring day winning the Intermediate 100m in 12.31 and later on in the evening run a huge PB of 24.56 just being edged out by Roseanna McGuckian 24.54 seconds.

Connacht U9-U11 Team Events & U12 Indv & Relay Events

The order of events are listed below.
Relays will start at 11am sharp.
Note: There will be NO Juvenile training next Sunday 2nd June due to Community Games & No training Sunday 16th June due to Connacht under U13-19.

Details of the transport to the All-Ireland Juvenile Relays in Athlone are as follows
Date: Saturday 6th April
Time: Bus will leave from the car park in Dangan at 7:30am
Collection Points:
1. Bus stop across from Dunnes Stores on the Headford Rd at 7:45am
2. Oranmore Community Centre at 7:55am
Cost: €10.
Please note: Athletes not travelling by bus need to be in Athlone by 9.30am.

Juvenile Athletes win at National Indoor Championship in Athlone

Galway City Harriers Juvenile Athletes had a brilliant weekend in Athlone at the National Indoor Championships winning 6 gold, 3 silver & 2 bronze medals.
Alanna Lally had a star performance setting 2 championship records on her way to winning the U18 girls 400m & 800m titles. Her time of 55:87 for the 400m shattered the previous record of 57:3 of set by Arlene Smith in 1991 and is also a new PB. She also relieved Arlene of her 800m record of 2:13:9 by winning the 800m in a time of 2:13:83.
Maebh Brannigan won her first national title in the U17 girls 1500m. She ran a superb race, with 20 metres to spare at the finish, winning in a time of 4:58. She also won a silver medal in the 800m
Evan McGuire also proved his status as a top class 400m runner winning the U19 boys 400m in a great time of 49:97.
Cillin Greene was another first time national title winner. Cillin ran away from the field in the 2nd half of the U16 boys winning in a time of 23:58.
Laoise Geraghty made a fabulous debut winning the U13 girls 600m in fine style in 1:44:70. Laoise ran a text book race to beat the defending champion Fiona Doyle of the Laune A.C. Clare.
