The membership year is from 1st Jan-31st Dec. The following are the fees:

  • 1st family member €30 (euros)
  • additional family member €20

Attached are the results from the Galway U9-U11 events last weekend.

National League - Bridging the Gap Between Senior & Junior

This year the GCH mens Track and Field team finds itself competing against the top clubs in the country in the Premier Division of the National League. This is a great opportunity to showcase the talent in our club and showcase we will!

In recent years the National league has been an opportunity for our Junior athlete to tog out side by side with the seniors to help our club team to victory. Without the help of our fantastic juniors, we'd never have been promoted last year.

Training Arrangements for Easter

The regional Sports Center in Dangan is closed for Easter from Thursday evening, 5th April, until Tuesday morning, 10th April. There are no changing or bathroom facilities available. There will be no juvenile training on Good Friday or Easter Sunday.
Normal training will resume on Wednesday.

Juvenile Indoors Report

Firsly, well done to Padraic Craven finished 9th in the School's International croos country held in Perth Scotland on Saturday in the junior boys race. He was the first Irish runner home and led the Irish team to 2nd place in the team competition. Meanwhile, in Nenagh, Galway City Harriers continued on their medal winning performances into the 2nd weekend of the AAI Juvenile Indoors Championships.

News Round-Up

It was a busy weekend on the athletics calendar with many club athletes, both Senior and Juvenile in action. Firsly to Quilty, where the long established and popular 4 mile road race took place this morning. G.C.H. had a strong contingent travel to the West Clare venue, including race winner Gary Thornton who posted a time of 19:24. Chris McGrath and Ian Egan were 10th and 11th overall in 21:37 and 21:44, with Sean Hanley coming in 17th in 22:53. This four won the team competition, while Ian Egan took the honours of 1st M40 and Martin McEvilly of 1st M60. Sean Hanley and Bernie Kelly were also well up there in the category results as usual.

Bus To Nenagh

Bus to Nenagh for the Relays on Sunday April 1st:
A bus will leave Dangan at 7.15am from the car prk. It will collect at the bus stop across from Dunnes Stores Headford Rd 7.25am & the Oranmore Community centre 7.35am. Cost €10 per person & family of 3 or more €25. Athletes not travelling by bus need to be in Nenagh at 9.30am for the Under 13/U15/U17/U19 relays.

All-Ireland Indoors Report

There were two Gold & two Silver medals for GCH at the All Ireland juvenile indoor Tarck & Field Chamionships at the weekend. Laura Ann Costello won the under 16 girls 60m gold medal in convincing fashion in a time of 7.86 seconds from Grace Lawlor, St Laurence O'Toole AC, 7.93 seconds. Alanna Lally won her 3rd consecutive indoor 1500m title winning the girls under 17 title in 4 minutes 46.57 seconds just narrowly missing the record of Rose Ann Galligan, 4 minutes 46.54 seconds, set in 2003. Linda Conroy Mullingar Harriers finished 2nd in 4 minutes 53.88 seconds.

All-Ireland Indoors Timetable

There will be no training in Dangan on Sunday 25th March or Sunday 1st April due to the All Ireland indoors being held both weekends. The timetable is attached.

All-Star Award for Alanna

Alanna Lally received the Athletics Ireland all Star award for the best juvenile athlete in County Galway for 2011. She was presesented with her award at an awards dinner in the Sheraton Hotel in Athlone earlier this month and this is the second year in a row that Alanna has won the award. She won the 800m & 1500m national titles indoors & outdoors in 2011 as well as the Irish Schools junior 800m title. In 2011 she represented Ireland on the track indoors & outdoors and also over cross-country. Congrats from all at GCH!
