Information for Connacht CC, Sligo Saturday 5th Nov.

Athletes need to be at the race course for 12.15 for the juvenile races. The first race will be the Girls Under 12 starting at 1 pm sharp.

Directions to Sligo race course:
Approaching from Galway and the East follow the dual carriageway in towards Sligo passing Collooney roundabout.
Watch for signs on left for Strandhill and Ballisodare as the exit is the next on the left about 2 miles further on.
Exit the motorway where signs for Carraroe and proceed to a roundabout. Take the second exit following signs for Racecourse and Sligo Park Hotel.

New Juvenile Membership Form & GCH Code of Conduct

Please find attached the new membership form for the G.C.H. Juvenile section. It also includes training guidelines and the GCH code of conduct guidelines for Juvenile members and guardians. This version replaces the old form.

U11-U19 Galway CC in Raheen - Directions

The under 11, under 13, under 15, under 17 & under 19 Galway cross-country is being held ai Raheen, Athenry, on Sunday 23rd October starting at 1pm sharp.
The changing rooms are at the Athenry FC club house near Moanbaun.
Directions to the pitches can be found on the website http://www.athenrysoccerclub.ie/. The clubhouse can be reached from the Galway-Monivea road or by going into Athenry & going out the Raheen road by Athenry church for a mile or so. Athletes need to be at the course by 12.15.

Directions & Times for Galway Cross-Country

The Galway Juvenile & Senior cross-country championships are on Sunday 9th October. The races will be held on Loughrea A.C's Bushfield site. This is located on the Bullaun road about half a mile or so past the Loughrea Golf course.
Juvenile races are for u10, U12, U14, U16, U18 boys & girls. The first race starts at 1pm sharp. GCH Juvenile athletes need to be at the course at 12.15pm. The senior races take place after the juvenile races with a 2:30pm start scheduled for the women. The men's race takes place directly after.

Juvenile Training Recommencing

After a short break the GCH Juvenile club returns to training in Dangan on Sunday 11th September at 10.30am. New members are very welcome and the different training times for different ages are detailed below.
Note that due to the building work at Maryville & the construction of a new perimeter fence around the track there is very restricted parking adjacent to track. Please use the car parks beside the hockey pitch & pavillion if possible. Access to the track is through the gates beside the shed on the Maryville side of the track.

Elation and Exhaustion: An Excellent National Juvenile Championships

The medals and excellent performances kept coming for Galway City Harrier athletes over the second weekend of the National Juvenile championships in Tullamore at the weekend. In total over the weekend the club won 2 gold and 2 silver individual medals and 3 gold, 6 silver and 2 bronze relay medals. Also the under 13 boys relay team set a new champion best performace in the 4x100m relay breaking the record set by Crusaders AC in 1974.

The final day of the individual events saw GCH athletes win 2 gold and 2 silver medals. Pride of place must go Laura Ann Costello who won the under 15 girls 200m in a personal best time of 25.35 seconds, just outside Sarah Lavin's record of 25.34 seconds. This completed a great sprint double for Laura Ann. Alanna lally was not to be outdone however as she won the under 16 girls 1500m in 4 minutes 45.73 seconds to add to her 800m title of 2 weeks ago.

Evan and Alanna Selected for Schools International

Evan McGuire and Alanna Lally have been selected to represent Ireland in the International Schools Track & Field in Cardiff on Saturday 16th of July. Evan has been selected in the 400m hurdles and Alanna in the 800m as well as the 4x300m relay. Congratulations and best wishes to them both!

The G.C.H juveniles covered themselves with glory at the 1st week-end of the All-Ireland juvenile T&F championships held in Tullamore on 9th & 10th July. The club came away with 4 gold, 2 silver & 3 bronze medals.

No Sunday Juvenile Training This Week

There will be no GCH Juvenile training on Sunday 10th July due to the All-Irelands being held in Tullamore. The last Sunday training of the season will be Sunday 17th July. Training will recommence at the beginning of September.
