Fit 4 Life December 18th 1

Fit4Life group and Leaders

Fit4Life Training resumes after the Christmas break on Tuesday 8th Jan. What better way to kick start the New Year than with a bit of exercise?

Well done to Don, Nicola, Carmel, Rochelle, Kristin, Gerard and Joseph who all ran in the Fields of Athenry 10K on St Stephens Day.

The next event to look forward to is a 5K walk-jog-run organised by our sister club Craughwell Fit4Life on Sunday 27th January at 1:00pm.This will be the first time for most of the Fit4Life members to take part in a road race and should be great fun. 5K is about 3 miles so don't panic it is well within everyone's capability.Pacers will be available on the day to help everyone achieve their personal goals, whatever they might be.

This is a free event for Fit4Life members and registration will take place on the day between 11.30 and 12.30.at St Michael's Hall in Craughwell. The course will be measured by AAI (Athletics Association of Ireland) officials and marked accordingly. So if you are not already joined up for Fit4Life what are you waiting for? Get to Westside Library Carpark every Tue and Thur @ 7pm and get fit, get moving, get walking, jogging, running. All levels are welcome especially total, absolute, beginners.

Why running is a good thing

The following piece in quotes is taken directly from a book called "Lets Run: A Handbook for Irish Runners" by Lindie Naughton.

"Running gives your sluggish metabolism a kick-start, burning fat and toning muscles. Even if you don't loose weight, you'll look fitter. Gasping for breath? Running gets those heart and lungs working efficiently, giving you the staying power to do many other activities, from all night raves to playing football with the kids.
You get almost instant results - even after 3 weeks, you'll feel like a new person. You don't have to go far and you don't have to go fast.
All this will make you happier -15 minutes of exercise is better for reducing tension and stress than any pill or potion.
You will make friends especially if you join a running group.
Finally, a fit person is a smarter person, or so the scientists tell us. Memory improves, as does mathematical and reasoning ability"

SO TUESDAYS AND THURSDAYS AT 7PM WESTSIDE LIBRARY CARPARK THE START OF A NEW YEAR AND A NEW FITTER YOU !!!!
