The final race of the Galway 5K series for 2010 was held in Dangan last night resulting in another cracking evening of racing. Our own club put on a grand finale over a new and less familiar, single loop circuit, with overall results and race summary linked here.

Based on the provisional results-set, times for GCH participants have been extracted to the attached PDF document.

Of the 173 GCH athletes registered for the series, 102 ran in Dangan this time out, with many more helping out behind the scenes.

As we reflect on the race-series just ended, congratulations to the 38 GCH athletes who participated in all 6 legs and the 58 athletes who made it to the start-line for 5 (meaning by my reckoning, a fantastic 96 race-series t-shirts were "earned" by our club members).

For the record, 21 took part in 4 legs, 15 were there for 3, we saw 13 of ye for 2 and 9 for "just the 1". Unfortunately, 19 of the overall 173 registered GCH athletes failed to make it out this time around.

Mar focal scoir...

2010 proved yet another great success for this race-series which goes from strength to strength each year with increased mass participation. No frills it may be, but that does not take from the extraordinary levels of organisation involved. We salute all those who helped out from week to week and particularly the organising committee led by race-series coordinator Mick Rice.

Maith sibh go léir - táimid an-bhuíoch daoibh!
