County Galway Cross-Country Results

The County Galway cross-country championships were held earlier today at Dartfield, Loughrea. Senior and juvenile athletes from around the county competed for Senior, Intermediate, Novice, Veteran as well as Juvenile titles and G.C.H. had a number of medal winners.

Juvenile Results
G.C.H. had 3 individual winners in the Juvenile events. Colm Huges won the U13 Boys, Rachel Shaw won the U17 Girls and David Gow won the U17 Boys.

GCH teams won the U15 Girls, U17 Girls and U13 Boys events.

Other county medal winners were Maebh Brannigan, 3rd U11 Girls, Eimear Hanahoe, 3rd U17 Girls. Evan McGuire, Keith Fallon and Sean Diskin all won silver in the Boys U13, U15 and U17 events respectively.

Senior Results
The Senior men's race was won by Paul McNamara, Athenry AC. Martin Corcoran was the 2nd home followed by G.C.H.'s Fergal Geraghty, recent Galway Bay winner, in 3rd. Athenry claimed the Senior team title, from Craughwell in 2nd and G.C.H. 3rd.

New G.C.H. club member Frank Ward finished second in the Men's Intermediate race behind Jason Broderick, Craughwell.

Martin Corcoran also claimed 1st Vet O'40 from Mick Rice, Athenry AC, and Conrad Conneely, G.C.H. 3rd. Other winners included Terry Grogan, CRH, in the Men's O'50 and Mickey Kelly, Tuam, in the Men's O'60.

Ann Carter, Athenry, won the women's race from Kathryn Casserly and Caroline Clancy.
