Age no barrier...How I celebrated my 52nd birthday...

Calry 9mile Road Race 2010 051To celebrate my 52nd birthday (Sunday 7th March) and a happy, healthy life so far I decided to fit in a couple of events this weekend.

Firstly a dance on Friday night to get warmed up for the weekend. Nothing like a few hours ballroom dancing to get the leg muscles working.

Bright and early Saturday morning up the N17 to Sligo to take part in the 44th Annual Dominic O'Hara 9 Mile Road Race hosted by Calry Athletic Club which had a start time of 12 noon. This is a tough run with some serious hills and not for the faint hearted but we were all rewarded with plenty of tea and scones afterwards. This race had about 50 finishers. I managed 1:06:36 for this race but I think the course was short.

Sunday morning off to Adare for the Adare 10k which had about 400 on the start line and some more undulating terrain. I managed to even pick up a category prize at this race. 46:51 for this.

On the way back from Adare it was great to get the text message about Gary's great performance.

I should mention a post race rubdown from Ian Egan that did wonders after the run on Saturday and got me ready again for Sunday. My thanks to Ian.
