Clonliffe Christmas Cracker

A hardy bunch of GCH runners made their way to Santry very early last Sunday morning, to compete in the inaugural Christmas Cracker 5k, organised by the Clonliffe Harriers Athletic Club. A frosty December morning meant a challenge for the organisers as the tartan track, where the race was due to start, was frozen. With a slightly altered start, the runners set-off on a fast course through Northwood and Santry. Keith Fallon was first of the GCH runners, finishing 11th overall and 2nd Junior in a super 15:54. Chris McGrath and Ian Egan were close behind and almost neck in neck, finishing in 16:17 and 16:19. Young Gearoid O'Connor had a very good first race with 19:19 with Brendan Glynn just behind in 19:24 in his first road race in a long time - sub 19's are predicted for both these runners next time out! The team had a great day out and full results/report are on the Clonliffe site: http://www.clonliffeharriers.com/.
