FUTUR€ Streets of Galway 2009 - Local Media Coverage
The local media has not been "slow out of the traps" in publishing various reports on our recent 8K road-race. Today's Galway Independent has a fantastic colour photograph on the front-page featuring our two sumo-wrestler entrants (well done lads on getting around by the way!), together with a full-page colour photograph spread inside as well as a race-report in the sports section. Tuesday's Connacht Sentinel also had a rear view of our Sumo's and some great photos of the competitors in action. Thursday brings yet more coverage in the ubiquitous Galway Advertiser, who also provided extensive pre-race updates and analysis for the Streets.
New web-based media outlet Galway News, an amalgamation of content from the Tribune Group of newspapers (including the Sentinel), as well as Galway Bay FM, includes the race-report linked here.
Go raibh maith agaibh go léir - go maire sibh uilig...
Now, the really important question remains, did the sumo wrestlers beat Daisy the cow home? I think we should be told...

Cow beats sumo!
I think cow beat sumo. I was overtaken by the cow at eyre square then the sumo boys just before the finish line. I am still getting over the humiliation, but had a great day out. (finished 52 mins).
race within a race
I hear lots of people are referencing their time to the cow and sumo

Wow - well filmed Eric !
He is fast alright . But I have 12 months to train and only 23 minutes to make up on him for next year ! :-)
Thanks Eric
Thanks for that Eric,
Our official race photographs will be available in a week or so. Our photographer John O'Connor is currently busy doing his post race editing and selection of hundreds of photos to ensure they are all up to his usual high standards.
