Gerry Ryan followed up his return to racing and winning in the Galway 5k series last month, with another win at the weekend in the Ballyhaunis 8k Road Race. Another of GCH's most prolific road race competitors, Bernie Kelly, also travelled and had the following report:
"It was a sweltering hot evening in Ballyhaunis that had us all looking for shade before the off. The hills between 4k and 6k were fairly tough and saw more than a few struggling to keep a pace going. The new venue at the Rugby Club was great and we were even entertained by a troupe of local dancers while we waited for results. The tea/coffee sandwiches and biscuits were also plentiful."
