So said a curious byelaw of Galway Corporation in 1518, when they ordered that none of the town's inhabitants should admit any McWilliams, O'Flahertys, Kellys, Burkes or their like into their houses. The West Gate of the town apparently had the inscription "From the ferocious O'Flaherties Good Lord deliver us."

Well, times have changed, and on August 8th 2009, Galway City Harriers are hoping that plenty of ferocious natives are part of the action around the Streets of Galway. Strutting and Swaggereing are optional!

Our pictures shows Rory Nelson and Mickey McLaughlin, FUTUR€, with Gearoid Quinn, G.C.H. at the official launch evening last week. They are also trying out the new t-shirts for size. This years design shows a runner's footprints along part of the race route and familiar Galway scene approaching the Cathedral. Thanks to Eve and her team who worked with Enda in Advertees to put it all together.
