Claregalway Results
Submitted by mel on Mon, 2010-08-16 22:48GCH had a good outing on Saturday night at the Claregalway 10k. The County 10k championship was run in conjunction with the race and both the Men's and Women's GCH teams won. Rob Staunton won the race outright with Tony Scanlan 2nd. Helen Corbett continues to make massive improvements every time she dons the racing shoes. Gerry Carty, Bernie Kelly and Margaret Sheridan all enjoyed the opportunity to race locally, after being on the organisational side instead for the Streets. Submitted by mel on Wed, 2010-08-11 11:45The winners of our bonus prizes for the best performance on the night, using the World Masters Association Age Grading tables, are David Rooney and Maria McCambridge. Young athlete David still manages to beat the field though veteran Martin McEvilly is not far behind. The men's top 10 also has Eugene Moynihan, Damien Martin and Sean Doyle in there too. The women's table has less of a shake-up, looking very similar to the official prizewinners, but with positions interchanged. Here's the top 10 men and top 8 women:

Annaghdown 10K Summer Solstice Race - 2010
Submitted by seamusc on Fri, 2010-05-21 14:11
The 4th annual Annaghdown 10K summer solstice run will follow the calendar again this year and takes place on Monday, 21st June at 7:30pm starting from Annaghdown national school.
This is another great race on the local calendar and deserves our support. It is run over a nice fast course, on quiet tree-lined country roads and finishes with a long sweeping descent to Annaghdown pier. The brave and the foolhardy usually cool down afterwards with a dip in the water at the pier.

Galway 5K Series 2010 - Claregalway
Submitted by seamusc on Tue, 2010-05-18 22:37
And so the rain came to the 5K series. We probably deluded ourselves 3 weeks ago in Athenry by claiming that the evening had dried up before the racing commenced, and last week in Craughwell sure weren't we all home and hosed before it really came wet. Tonight was a different bag of cats altogether. It was (very) wet all evening around Galway, what could be described as a soft Irish summer's evening. Thankfully, the road-runner is a hardy species and almost 450 athletes braved the miserable conditions to run on the now familiar, but always challenging Claregalway circuit.
