In addition to the above, there is a race-record bonus of €500 if either the men's or women's SOG record time is improved on in 2012. Currently, the men's race-record of 22m 49s is held jointly by Seamus Power representing Kilmurray/Ibrickane in Co. Clare (1998 - old course) and Josphat Boit, then running with Clonliffe Harriers in Dublin (2009 - current course). The women's race-record of 26m 01s is held by serial SOG winner Rosemary Ryan from Bilboa AC in Co. Limerick (2001).
