Phew! - The Corrib Oil Streets of Galway 2011 Race Report

The Streets of Galway came alive last Saturday evening with the sounds and sight of 2000 runners, joggers and walkers in the city’s biggest footrace. This year’s Corrib Oil Streets of Galway Road Race was the 26th annual edition of the popular event, which is hosted by the local Galway City Harriers Athletics Club with title sponsors Corrib Oil.

After a busy afternoon, by 5:30pm on Saturday, most of the race packs had been collected and the Claddagh Hall was being transformed for the after race spread. Warm-ups and catch-ups were underway as people arrived and when the bus packed with marshalls left the Claddagh at 6:15pm the adrenaline was pumping for both participants and organisers.

The list of prizewinners at the Corrib Oil Streets of Galway 8k 2011 is attached. We were able to present all the Senior prizes (top 10 men and top 8 women), as well as a couple of the age category prizes, and the team winners on the night. Special thanks to John O'Connor, Conrad Conneely and the athletes themselves - especially the Raheny gang, for helping us out with that! All other prizes will be posted out in the coming days. There are some fine performances amongst them.
